Opens in April 2016, Taka by Sushi Saito brought a new standard to Japanese’s cuisines in Malaysia’s culinary scene. Deemed to be the cream of the crop, this restaurant is known as the sister of the three-Michelin-starred Sushi Saito in Tokyo. We were informed that this restaurant is a joint venture between Takashi Saito, one of the best sushi chefs in his generation and One IFC Sdn Bhd, developer of St Regis.
What makes Taka by Sushi Saito so special?
Sitting lavishly at level 3A of St Regis Kuala Lumpur, we can assume that no funds were spared in decorating this sushi bar. The kitchen is filled with latest appliances with a large 300-year old rare Hiroki counter for the chef to serve 16 people at once. There are eight private dining rooms that surrounded by baton Ajiro-ita weave boards too.
We can safely say that it has the Japanese essence through and through. Because of that too, they are being called the best sushi restaurant in Kuala Lumpur by their Japanese diners. Besides that, this restaurant only serves omakase dishes and no ala carte sushi. This also means there is no specific menu that states what type of sushi is being served. The in-house chef only serves sushi with the available ingredients for the day; be it for lunch or dinner.
Fresh seasonal seafood ingredients are flown from Tokyo, trice a week and they are all hand-picked by Saito-san himself. The tunas here are on-point; as expected. It is at par to the Sushi Saito in Roppongi. Taka By Sushi Saito is definitely a place to go for all sushi enthusiast. It might break your bank but for a once in a lifetime experience, this is so worth it!
