As busy, working-class Malaysians with crazy work schedules, starting your day off with the right meal is essential to leading a healthy life. Not that having a nasi lemak takeaway for breakfast every day is a bad thing, but surely doctors and nutritionists might disagree with that notion.
However, if you are looking for a quick and healthy morning grub with minimal preparation time, here are some easy-to-make meals, for you.
Although this particular dish does take some time to prepare, it can be very convenient to have a jar in the fridge when you need it.
All you need to do is get a jar (approx 250 ml) and put in some yogurt or milk, with any amount of berries, nuts, oats, granola, banana or muesli. The choice is up to you.
Then stir all the content together. After that, just leave the jar in the fridge overnight. When you wake up, wallah! Your breakfast is there waiting for you.
OATS WITH MILK, AVOCADO & STRAWBERRIES
This is one of the simpler meals to cook. If you have the time or prefer cooked oats, you can boil about 250ml of milk in a pot and put in 5 tablespoons of raw oats. Let it cook for 5 to 7 minutes at medium heat, or until the milk becomes thick.
Another way is, put 5 tablespoons of raw oats into an empty bowl, then pour as much milk according to your liking.
Then slide in sliced or chopped avocado and strawberries. After that. enjoy!
GRANOLA WITH SLICED BANANAS
Granola is edible even in its raw form – and some say that it might just taste better raw. Therefore, you save some time in the A.M as you don’t need to cook it first. Just slice some bananas first, then slip them into a bowl of milk and granola!

This might be the fastest meal you can prepare and consume. Grab your favourite fruits, place them in a blender, pour in the equivalent amount of milk into the blender (insert ice if you prefer cold beverages), then just blend. What comes out is a fresh, vitamin C packed smoothie, that you can instantly drink or have it on the go.
GREEK YOGURT WITH BERRIES
Probably the most preferred breakfast meal for those who maintain a healthy lifestyle. Greek yogurt has no processed glucose hence why it does not have much flavour to it.
That being said, it becomes a versatile ingredient as it goes well with any type of berry.
Take 2 or 3 scoops of Greek yogurt and put in a bowl. Then just add dried cranberries or blueberries and you are done. If you want some crunch in your meal, you may insert cashew, almost or macadamia nuts to the mix.
Some substitute dried berries with fresh strawberries and banana. Either way, it’s a delicious morning meal.
